Volleyball Defeats DII Lakeland in Straight Sets
October 10, 2019 – – It was a total team effort as the Lorain County Community College Volleyball team defeated Division II Lakeland Community College 25-18, 25-16, and 25-16 in OCCAC play. The win takes the Commodores to 13-9 on the season and 5-6 in conference play.
LCCC averaged 23.7 digs per set, had a season high 14 blocks, and a 0.263 team attack percentage for the night. Leading the charge was Vanecia Billings (Lorain/Clearview) with 17 kills and a .600 attack percentage. She also had five blocks, while fellow middle hitter, Lydia Solak (LaGrange/Christian Community School) added four. Kara Sullinger (N. Ridgeville) quarterbacked the Commodore offense, handing out 34 assists.
Defensively, Brooklyn Hudson (New London) had 16 digs and Alyssa Burch (Wakeman/Western Reserve) was right behind her with 15 in the win. Rounding out the players with double-digit digs were Maddie Markovich (Sheffield Village/Christian Community School) with 13 and Sullinger with 10.
The Commodores are on the road for an OCCAC match this Friday, October 11, 2019 at Hocking College.
