Volleyball Improves to 7-3 with Tournament Wins

September 6, 2019 – – The Lorain County Community College Women’s Volleyball team brought home two more wins by besting Cuyahoga Community College and St. Clair Community College today at the Shannon McBride Invitational Tournament hosted by Lakeland Community College.

LCCC faced off against Division II Tri-C in a 5-set battle for their first win of the day by scores of 25-23, 12-25, 26-24, 21-25, and 15-12. Leaders for the Commodores were Lydia Solak (LaGrange/Christian Community School) with 10 kills; Vanecia Billings (Lorain/Clearview) with 6 blocks and 6 kills; Maddie Markovich (Sheffield Village/Christian Community School) added 17 digs; and Kara Sullinger (N. Ridgeville) dished out 42 assists.

In their second match, LCCC won 3-0 over St. Clair County 25-15, 25-15, and 26-24. Sullinger led the offense with 19 assists and 9 service aces. Solak again finished with 6 kills and Myah McDonald (Avon) had 10 digs.

Tournament play continues tomorrow at Lakeland CC where Lorain will have a rematch with Mercyhurst NE, a team they beat earlier in the year 3-1. LCCC’s first match kicks off at 11am, then their final match at 1pm.
