Volleyball Splits OCCAC Weekend Matches
October 19, 2019 – – The Lorain County Community College Volleyball team finished off their weekend with a 3-0 win over Clark State Community College, after suffering a tough 0-3 loss to Edison State last night in conference play. Lorain is now 15-12 overall and 7-9 in the always competitive OCCAC.
Although the Commodores won their earlier meeting this season 3-2 over Edison State Community College, they fell in straight sets in their rematch by scores of 18-25, 20-25, and 24-26. Brooklyn Hudson (New London) had a career-high 33 digs in the match, while Maddie Markovich (Sheffield Village/Christian Community School) added 17 and Alyssa Burch (Wakeman/Western Reserve) had 12. Vanecia Billings (Lorain/Clearview) put down 11 kills and Lydia Solak (LaGrange/Christian Community School) had four blocks.
LCCC came back strong today in their match against Clark State, winning 25-23, 25-12, and 25-15. Leading the offensive attack once again for the Commodores was freshman, Billings, going 22 of 24 with 14 kills in the three-set match. Kara Sullinger (North Ridgeville) handed out 29 assists and was perfect in 79 attempts. Markovich picked up 20 digs and Hudson had another double-digit day with 16 digs.
LCCC plays host to Terra State Community College in their final regular-season home match at 6 p.m., Wednesday, October 23, 2019 in the Ewing Activity Center.
