Women’s Basketball Drops Double Overtime Game to CCBC
December 13, 2019 – – It was a heartbreaking loss for the Lorain County Community College Women’s Basketball team, as they lost 89-86 in double overtime to the Community College of Beaver County. LCCC led until the final minutes of regulation when the Titans took their first lead of the game.
An ill-advised foul by CCBC with .2 seconds left put LCCC’s Kelsey Gannon (Avon) at the line where she hit her second attempt to tie the game and send it into overtime. The Commodores had a chance to put the game away in the first overtime but a last-second three-pointer by the Titans secured a second overtime and the win.
Brandyce Smith (pictured; Lorain/Clearview) scored a career-high 32 points, including 10-10 at the charity stripe. Vanecia Billings (Lorain/Clearview) notched her fifth double-double of the season with 22 points and 16 boards, while teammate Haley Sprouse (LaGrange/Keystone) also turned in a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Bri Gallagher (Medina/Cloverleaf) dished out seven assists and chipped in 10 points.
