Women’s Basketball Loses but Closes Gap on DII Terra State
January 22, 2020 – – In their first meeting this season, the Lorain County Community College Women’s Basketball team had a tough game against Division II Terra State Community College, losing 99-44. The second time around, LCCC showed their improvement as they were leading the Titans 42-40 heading into the 4th quarter. Unfortunately, the Commodores were unable to connect on their last 10 buckets and lost 59-46.
Kelsey Simmerly (Avon Lake) had one of her best games of the season to lead the Commodores with her first double-double. Simmerly scored 12 points, grabbed 11 boards, had three steals, plus an assist and blocked shot. Vanecia Billings (Lorain/Clearview) logged her eleventh double-double this year in fine fashion, with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Kelsey Gannon (Avon) added nine points, five rebounds, and three steals.
The Commodores host OCCAC Conference-leader Division II Edison State Community College at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 25.
