Women’s Basketball Suffers Tough Loss to DII Lakeland
November 20, 2019 – – It was a tough matchup for the LCCC Women’s Basketball team tonight as they squared off against Division II Lakeland Community College. The Lakers got out to an early 9-0 lead and never looked back on their way to an 88-51 victory over the Commodores.
LCCC was down 50-18 going into the half but managed to play a fairly even second half against the taller Lakers allowing 38 points to their 33. The loss drops the Commodores to 2-4 overall and Lakeland goes to 5-1.
Vanecia Billings (Lorain/Clearview) had her third consecutive double-double game pulling in 15 boards and scoring 15 points to lead the LCCC effort. Kelsey Gannon (Avon) and Bri Gallagher (Medina/ Cloverleaf) each had 10 points. Haley Sprouse (LaGrange/Keystone) dished out three assists and Brandyce Smith (Lorain/ Clearview) had three steals.
LCCC is off until after Thanksgiving when they will travel to Jamestown Community College for a men’s and women’s doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m., December 2, 2019.
