All year long, WKYC will be spotlighting Girls in STEM, an initiative that inspires girls to embrace science, technology, engineering and math.
On Tuesday’s Donovan Live Betsy Kling tell us about program at Lorain County Community College that is offering girls experience in the field of manufacturing.
The six-week program offered by LCCC focuses on STEAM learning, just like STEM but with the addition of art.
The program offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience using technology such a 3-D printers and laser cutters. Those experiences ensure that they are prepared for a job in manufacturing upon course completion.
But that’s not all they teens are rewarded with incentives too.
The program allows students to earn college credit and get paid.
