Application Period: Application submission opens at 8:00 AM on Monday, August 26, 2019 and closes at 12 Noon on Tuesday, September 10, 2019.

 Contest Application Screening begins Wednesday, September 11, 2019.  Up to three (3) bands will be selected to advance to the Your Vote Rocks Event held on September 24, 2019 at Lorain County Community College (LCCC), Elyria Campus. Date and times are subject to change.

Your Vote Rocks Event 2019 One band from among the three finalists will be voted as the Grand Prize Winner.

 How To Enter: Visit the contest website (http://www.lorainccc.edu/yourvoterocks), complete the registration information on the entry form, provide a link of demo of your music and submit the entry by 12 Noon on Tuesday, September 10, 2019.

Entry Requirements:  Each band is eligible to submit up to one application for the September 24, 2019 event. Any attempt to obtain more than one entry will void that application.

LCCC has the right to immediately remove any submissions that violate any rules. Conditions of entry into this contest are as follows. Each entrant:

  1. Acknowledges and agrees that LCCC may exploit, edit, modify, display and distribute the submission and all elements of such submission, including, without limitation, the names and likenesses of any persons or locations embodied therein, in any and all media now known or not currently known, throughout the world in perpetuity without compensation, permission or notification to entrant or any third party;
  2. Entrants who are not yet 18 years of age will be required to obtain parental or legal guardian consent to perform or be declared a winner;
  3. Agrees that each band member will conduct him/herself with due regard to public conventions and morals during the contest and for up to one year following acceptance of the prize.

 Selection of Finalists and Grand Prize Winner:  Up to three finalists and one grand prize winner will be selected from among all eligible entries received. All valid entries will be screened on the basis of musicianship and professional sound. The finalists will compete at the 2019 Your Vote Rocks Event on the Elyria campus of LCCC. Each finalist will have ten minutes to perform on the stage during the event. The Grand Prize winner will be the one band that receives the most votes from guests in attendance. LCCC reserves the right to disqualify any participant or winner and may refuse to award any prize to a person who is ineligible or has violated any rule, gained unfair advantage in participating in the contest, or obtained winner status using fraudulent or illegal means. Each entrant will be notified of status by mail, email, phone or in person. Each entrant is solely responsible for providing reliable contact information to be notified of their status. LCCC’s decisions as to the operation of the contest and the selection of potential winners are final.

Finalists Information:  For entrants selected as a finalist:

  • Bands participating in the LCCC Your Vote Rocks will be sharing equipment with other performers and events that will be on the stage.
  • LCCC will provide a sound system that will be shared by all stage activities which will take place on the stage and will be run solely by the LCCC-selected sound vendor and/or Stocker Arts Center personnel.
  • Finalists will be notified of their performance time. Finalists will receive approximately five minutes to set up and sound check and ten total minutes to perform.  At the end of your set, you will have five minutes to break down as the next group is setting up.  The schedule for the day is very tight, so you will be asked to stop at your assigned end time.
  • You will be contacted by a member of the LCCC staff to arrange for parking, load-in and load-out information, to find out your needs and to let you know about the equipment that will be on hand for your use.

Publicity:  Except where prohibited, participation in the contest constitutes consent to use of name, social media identity, likeness, photograph, voice, opinions, hometown and state for promotional purposes in connection with this contest in any media, worldwide, without further payment or consideration. All finalists are required to submit the LCCC Release Form prior to performance on stage, failure to do so will result in ineligibility.

Release: By participating in the contest, entrant (a) releases LCCC, Lorain County Community College Foundation, affiliates, subsidiaries, successors, assigns, agents, representatives, officers, directors, trustees, faculty, staff and administrators, from any and all liability for any claims, costs, injuries, losses or damages of any kind arising in connection with the contest, including the unauthorized or illegal access to personally identifiable or sensitive information or acceptance, possession, use, misuse, or nonuse of the prize that may be awarded; and (b) acknowledges that the foregoing parties have neither made nor are in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation or guarantee, expressed or implied, in fact or in law, relative to a prize including, without limitation, the prize quality or availability. Entrant recognizes that there are many risks and hazards, minor and serious, that may be associated with appearing on stage or otherwise being in proximity to the musical equipment, entrant’s band or other bands performing, and/or crew or other concert related activities including, without limitation, bruises, scrapes, broken bones, fractures, sprains and other serious bodily injuries, and even death. Knowing the dangers, hazards and risks associated with contest, entrant must assume all responsibility and risk of loss, damage, illness and/or injury to my person or property in any way associated with participation as a condition of being selected as a Finalist and performing in the contest.  Participants are financially responsible for any damages they cause to equipment, property, etc.

Errors and Unauthorized Activity: LCCC is not responsible: (1) for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrants, printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the contest; (2) for technical and/or communications malfunctions, errors or failures of any kind; (3) for unauthorized human intervention in any part of the contest; (4) for technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the contest or the processing of entries; (5) for any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize; or (6) if the contest cannot take place or if any prize cannot be awarded due to acts of war, natural disasters, weather, acts of terrorism, or unforeseen conflicts. LCCC reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the contest, or any part of it, for any reason as determined by LCCC in its sole discretion. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, LCCC reserve the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. LCCC’s failure to enforce any term of these rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.

Prizes: Grand Prize winner will receive one $500 cash prize. Prize does not include any other expense and any such additional expenses are the sole responsibility of winner. Any lost or stolen prize will not be replaced. Prize may not be transferred or assigned. LCCC reserves the right to award a prize of equal or greater financial value if any advertised prize (or any component thereof) becomes unavailable. Each winner is solely responsible for reporting and paying any and all applicable taxes. Each winner must provide the Lorain County Community College Foundation with a valid taxpayer identification number or social security number before any prize will be awarded. A Form 1099 will be issued to the winner for value of prize of $600 or more.  The Grand Prize winner will be offered an opportunity to enter a one-day contract for a performance at an event in Spring Semester 2020, to be mutually agreed upon between the band and LCCC.

Disputes: As a condition of participating in the contest, entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, consequential, or any other damages. LCCC reserve the right to modify prize award procedures.
