Campana Center for Ideation and Invention

 

The Patsie C. and Dolores Jeneé Campana Center for Ideation and Invention features state-of-the-art digital manufacturing labs equipped with high-tech equipment for fabrication, automation, 3D printing and more. It’s surrounded by collaboration space and services to facilitate the full spectrum of product development – from initial ideation to prototyping, through assembly and packaging. The Center offers hands-on education for students, through college courses and K-12 programs, while giving community inventors, entrepreneurs and existing companies access to cutting-edge digital manufacturing capabilities.

FireFish STEAM Academy

July 5 – August 18, 2017

Six-Week Summer Academy for High School Students

The FireFish STEAM Academy is an intensive arts apprentice workforce development training program headed by professional artist Jim Gundlach in collaboration with LCCC and Fab Lab Staff. This FREE creative arts based training program for income-eligible high school students and young adults in Lorain County.

Teens create the centerpiece of the FireFish Festival in the Fab Lab from start to finish — this year a giant STEAMpunk FireFish! Design, art, engineering, fabrication, manufacturing and science experiences are woven into this massive project based learning and workforce development initiative.

Located at the LCCC Fab Lab and in downtown Lorain.

Rosie’s Girls

One-Week Summer Camp for Middle School Girls

STEM + Arts (STEAM) + Advanced Technologies + Fab Lab + Trades Exploration

Rosie’s Girls® is a one-week summer day camp that helps girls develop grit, confidence, and expanded possibilities by exploring hands-on STEM, Arts, Fab Lab, Advanced Technology and Trades-Related Activities, as they meet and work with role models in diverse career fields.

Girls entering 6, 7 and 8th grades practice the skills of designers, carpenters and engineers as they create, invent, design and build individual and cooperative STEAM projects in a safe, supportive, and girl-centered environment.

Hands on experiences in the LCCC Fab Lab and other Advanced Technology areas will be provided, as well as creative art/construction activities with professional artist and educator Ann Bort ….. WITH TONS OF FUN WOVEN IN!
