Message From the Program Coordinator
Welcome! We are pleased that you are interested in the field of Early Childhood Education and would like to welcome you to LCCC. Early Childhood Education is an exciting and challenging field. The first five years of a child’s life is the time when a child grows quickly in all of the developmental domain areas; socially, physically, emotionally, intellectually and creatively. As an early childhood teacher it will be your responsibility to see that all children are safe, nurtured and thriving in a developmentally appropriate environment.
The ECED courses included in the degree program have embedded within them educational theory, best practices, and the ability to be an active participant in the practical application of what you are learning in the classroom. The degree has two opportunities for students to be placed in early childhood centers for an entire semester to work directly with children by creating lesson plans, working one on one with children, and eventually taking on teacher duties and responsibilities.
The faculty who teach in the program are highly qualified and bring a plethora of experiences with them. They maintain their teaching licenses by engaging in professional development.
We all look forward to meeting you and helping you become a teacher who can make the difference in the lives of children.
