The Teacher Education program at LCCC prepares you to transfer to a four-year school where you may earn the bachelor’s degree required for a State of Ohio teacher’s license. Our program provides you a well-rounded, liberal arts education that focuses on the education profession, principles of instruction, and childhood development.

In order to transfer to one of our Partner Universities with an approved program in teacher education, you must earn your Associate of Arts in Teacher Education while maintaining a 2.5 minimum grade point average (GPA) in all education cluster courses (ECED, EDCT, and PSYH).

When you have earned a bachelor’s degree from your transfer school, they will provide a contingent recommendation to the State of Ohio’s Department of Education. This will provide you a provisional license to teach in the K-12 system and make you eligible to take the exam for full licensure.

Since each four-year school may have different approaches and requirements for earning a bachelor’s degree, you should consult with your desired transfer college early in your program at LCCC. Working with the transfer school’s counseling department to select the appropriate courses will help you maximize the credits that can be transferred.
