LCCC is proud to host Dr. Cia Verschelden on September 13, 2018 as a keynote speaker. Dr. Verschelden has been an educator with nearly 30 years of experience in higher education in both two- and four-year institutions. She authored a book for higher education faculty, student affairs professionals, and administrators – Bandwidth Recovery: Helping Students Reclaim Cognitive Resources Lost to Poverty, Racism, and Social Marginalization, Stylus Publishing, 2017.
Two sessions will be held focusing on bandwidth inside and outside the classroom. Participants will gain knowledge and resources to better serve underrepresented populations.
Session 1: Bandwidth Outside the Classroom (focus on underrepresented populations)
Session 2: Bandwidth Inside the Classroom (focus on intervention applications/tools)

About the Speaker
Cia Verschelden, M.S.W., Ed.D.
Director Institutional Assessment at University of Central Oklahoma
Dr. Cia Verschelden, the Executive Director of Institutional Assessment at University of Central Oklahoma. At UCO, she teaches in sociology; at Kansas State University, she taught social welfare and social policy, introduction to women’s studies, and nonviolence studies. Cia has a B.S. in psychology from Kansas State, an M.S.W. from The University of Connecticut, and an Ed.D. from Harvard University. Her book, Bandwidth Recovery: Helping Students Reclaim Cognitive Resources Lost to Poverty, Racism, and Social Marginalization, was published in 2017.
