Grafton’s Alyssa Sidwell is graduating through the Lorain County Community College University Partnership with her bachelor’s degree from Kent State University in business. The 24-year-old graduated with both her high school diploma and an associate degree at 18 years old through Lorain County Early College High School.
“I plan on working on my management experience with the job I’m at now for a little longer and then I would like to find a better management job or start up my own business within the next few years,” Sidwell said. “I may continue my education with a master’s degree down the road.”
Sidwell changed her major twice before finding her path. She called LCCC the best option for herself and liked that it was close to home, she said. “LCCC was an experience that has guided me to where I am now.”
“My support from so many people in my life honestly is what helped me get to where I needed to be,” Sidwell said. “My parents, grandparents, friends, managers and mentors all supporters me immensely though my entire journey.”
She also credits her professors, especially Dean Porr from Kent State University, who inspired her to lead, she said. Professor Johnie Reed from Kent State was amazing as well, she said. “I leaned so much from them about management and leading in general and what a great leader will do,” she added.
