After 23 years in the steel industry, Nicholas Antonopoulos, 47, is about to graduate from Lorain County Community College with his associate of applied science degree in computer and digital forensics.
After being displaced, he was given the chance to get a degree through a government program, the Lorain resident said. “My dream was always to be able to come back to school and receive my degree. Twenty-five years ago my wife and I had twins and working at the steel mill was more important than a degree at the time,” Antonopoulos said.
He chose LCCC for convenience and the school “led me and pointed me in he right direction to fulfill my goals.”
“I guess it was always that thing that was on my bucket list which I can cross off now,” he said. “Next thing to check off is finding that dream job I went to school for.”
LCCC faculty and staff he would like to thank include: Jacob Joy, Larry Atkinson, Dave Astorino, Terry Paul, George Sent, Tammy Jenkowski and Carrie Delaney.
