Riley Caldwell is earning her associate of science degree from Lorain County Community College—before graduating from Wellington High School in June.
“My dream when I came to LCCC was to earn an associate degree before I graduated from high school through the College Credit Plus (CCP) program,” Caldwell, 17, said. She plans to earn her bachelor’s degree in nursing from The University of Akron through the LCCC University Partnership program.
“I chose to attend LCCC because it provides quality education,” Caldwell said. The CCP program allowed her to attend college courses while in high school at no charge. “It would be very difficult for me to achieve this degree financially otherwise,” she said.
Caldwell began by taking courses at the LCCC Wellington Center. She credits the staff members and professors that have helped her achieve her goals and stay dedicated to coursework. “Eddie Henson, the academic advisor from the Wellington Center, has helped me tremendously in achieving my degree by providing a course completion plan and answering all the confusing questions that I have thrown his way,” Caldwell said.
“Staying determined and keeping my educational goals in sight, along with the help of the CCP program, has helped me to successfully complete my associate of science degree,” she added.
