Nursing Programs
Many of today’s hottest careers are in the health-care field, with career opportunities and personal satisfaction unmatched by other professions. The nursing field, in particular, has huge demand and increasing shortages of qualified and licensed professionals. With an aging population of baby boomers and about one-third of all registered nurses projected to retire in the next 15 years, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that 1.2 million jobs for registered nurses are expected to open before 2022.
The job pays well, usually offers great benefits, and often offers a flexible schedule. There are many opportunities for advancement, every day is different, and the field offers excellent job security. In addition, with direct patient interaction, you can feel like you are making a big difference in your patients’ well-being.

The associate degree nursing program prepares graduates to function as registered nurses in hospitals, nursing homes and other health care agencies. Registered nurses promote health for clients through hygienic care; teaching; assessment of body systems; implementation of the nursing process, including treatment modalities ordered by the physician; and rehabilitative care. Upon completion of the program, the graduate is eligible to take the NCLEX examination for licensure as a registered nurse. Lorain County Community College has articulation agreements with colleges and universities including programs offered by Lorain County Community College’s University Partnership.
Note: Paramedics will be given prior learning credit and advanced placement for the ADN degree after successful completion of the transition course.
