The Sexual Orientation and Gender Equity Committee (S.O.G.E.) of Lorain County Community College
S.O.G.E is the Lorain County Community College’s resource for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer community and their Allies. Through education and advocacy S.O.G.E. strives to create a more unified campus and community. Together we celebrate diversity, strengthen voices, and foster personal, professional, and academic growth.
We are creating a campus free of discrimination where social justice inspires community engagement. Celebrating people across all genders, expressions, and identities, we envision a more inclusive environment in our classrooms and work spaces.
SOGE is a staff-led, college-funded initiative that serves LCCC and the community at large.
Projects and Priorities
SOGE Meetings are an opportunity to learn about what LCCC is doing for the LGBTQA+ community on campus. You are encouraged to bring suggestions, concerns, and ideas and Allies are most welcome! Meetings are held the first Friday of every month where current and ongoing projects and priorities are reviewed and voted on.
Two permanent chairs facilitate the meeting, and 15-20 rotating members from all campus departments attend regularly. Meetings are open to all students, faculty, and staff. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for location and to RSVP.
