Community Members
The Bass Library is honored to be a resource for all Lorain County residents. Community members from within and without the County are welcome to visit the Library and use our resources and facilities, including our books, periodicals, media, research databases, and research services. Research databases may be accessed in the Bass Library building.
Community Library Cards
LCCC Community Borrower library/ID cards are available to local residents with a valid photo ID and proof of address at the LCCC Bass Library Circulation desk. Children under the age of 16 may receive a community borrower card with a parent or guardian present. Community member cards are valid for four years. To continue borrowing, community borrowers need to renew the library card. This card will allow users to check out LCCC circulating library material.
With a Community Borrower library card:
- You may check out 10 library books
- You may have a total of 5 OhioLINK items on your library record
- Borrow items for 3 weeks and renew those items an additional 2 times
Borrowers are responsible for all materials checked on their cards. A fine equal to the full cost of the item will be charged for all library materials. Review our borrowing policies.
The LCCC Library does not provide InterLibrary loan services for article requests to community borrowers. Please check with the Elyria Public Library System (or another local public library) to find out about their interlibrary loan services.
EPLS library cards are available to all Ohio residents at the LCCC Library Circulation Desks. This card allows users to check out EPLS circulating library material. Please review the EPLS Registration page for more details about using this card.
Computers & Equipment
Community members may use any of the computer workstations located throughout the Library, mostly on the second and third floors. At these workstations, members may access the Library’s wealth of research databases for free. Copy machines, scanners, printers, and microform readers are also available. Printing cards may be purchased for $1.00 (20 copies). The Cost of a single copy is 5 cents per page. Ask at the Circulation Desk for assistance.
EPLS & LCCC Materials
The LCCC Library has partnered with the Elyria Public Library System to offer adult fiction and non-fiction books, young adult and children’s books, media (DVDs and CDs) and magazines for all ages at the Bass Library. Community members therefore have access to a wide array of material from popular fiction (provided by EPLS) to the latest in academic resources (provided by the LCCC Library). The majority of the EPLS materials is housed on the first floor of the Bass Library. EPLS’s adult non-fiction is shelved with the LCCC Library’s non-fiction material on the second and third floors.
OhioLINK Resources
All LCCC cardholders have the capability of using the OhioLINK online catalog to find and borrow material from the 89+ OhioLINK educational institutions. For questions regarding borrowing material from other institutions, please contact the Library’s Interlibrary Loan Office at (440) 366-7336 or ill@lorainccc.edu.
