The LCCC Bass Library provides a variety of spaces for the campus community and general public to use.
On the 1st Floor of the Bass Library is the Children’s Room, filled with children’s books (fiction and non-fiction) and media. The room is open to all library patrons. The collection is provided by the Elyria Public Library System (EPLS). The space includes a play area and furniture and hosts many children’s programs provided by the EPLS.
The Bass Library has one instruction lab, LC 209, where we provide research and information literacy instruction to classes and groups. Equipped with 35 computers, the room is located on the 2nd Floor of the Library, just past the Circulation Desk. Faculty and staff interested in collaborating with the Library on a research instruction session may visit the Library Instruction page for details.
Non-library-related activities may be held in LC 209 with limitations and upon request. Those interested in using the room must contact the Reference & Instruction Librarian, Chris Sheetz, at (440) 366-7288 or email@example.com.
Throughout the 2nd and 3rd Floors of the Bass Library are group study rooms, which members of the campus community may reserve online. The group study rooms include a table and chairs (seating up to 16 people in some rooms), a TV monitor with laptop connections, and a white board.
If someone has difficulty reserving a group study room, they should contact the Library’s Circulation Department for assistance at (440) 366-4026 on the Bass Library’s 2nd Floor. Additional group study rooms are available in the iLoft Building. Community users and groups may not reserve group study rooms, but they can contact LCCC’s Spitzer Conference Conference to find out about other LCCC campus locations.
On the 2nd Floor of the Bass Library is the Information Commons, a bank of computers available for anyone to use for academic and/or research purposes. The Commons includes 6 MACs and over 70 PCs with a variety of software available on each computer. Technical assistance is also available at the Tech Help Desk on the 2nd Floor.
The LCCC Library Archives, LC 2010, houses the college archives, a wealth of material documenting the history of Lorain County Community College. Visit the LCCC Library Archives guide for more information about the collections. Also, the Library Archives is a common meeting room for campus groups. Those interested in using the room should contact Mary Gill at (440) 366-7289 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The first floor of the Bass Library includes comfortable seating and a working fireplace. This area is open to all library patrons, and the Library often holds programs and events in this location.
Quiet Study Areas
On the 3rd Floor of the Bass Library are quiet study areas and computers open to all library patrons.
