The Lorain County Community College men’s basketball team jumped into the Top 10 today for the first time since at least 1979-80 and perhaps for the first time in school history.
The NJCAA D-III poll has the Commodores ranked #10 in the nation following last week’s 95-78 victory over D-II Clark State which improved LCCC’s record to
17-2. The only other ranked LCCC men’s basketball team was in 1979-80, but confirmation of the place in the ranking was unconfirmed at this writing.
“This is a nice feather in the cap of this year’s team and it’s great for LCCC,” Head Coach Marty Eggleston said. “I’m happy for the young men; they deserve the ranking. Now the key is to continue to improve as a team for the rest of the season,” Eggleston concluded.
The Commodores have been ranked for four consecutive weeks, entering at #11 three weeks ago. The team dropped to #12 two weeks ago before returning to #11 last week.
LCCC will host OCCAC member Lakeland CC (D-II) tomorrow evening (Wed., Jan. 31) at 7:30 p.m. following the women’s game at 5:30 p.m.
