In a well-played game that saw the lead change hands several times, the Lorain County Community College women’s basketball team fell, 80-74, to OSU-Mansfield.
Sophomore forward Angel Blakely (Lorain/Clearview) topped the Lady Commodores with 22 points, while sophomore guard Carrie Carlson (Grafton/Midview) connected for 20 points and freshman guard Hannah Oehlstrom added 16 more.
LCCC shot 36 percent from the field including 46 percent on 10-of-22 three-point shots. The difference in the game came from the foul line where OSU-Mansfield converted 14-of-19 free throws compared to just 6-of-16 for the Lady Commodores.
“We made some changes and we are starting to move the ball better,” Head Coach Vince Granito said. “We only had six turnovers tonight,” Granito stated noting a big improvement in that category.
LCCC has lost its last six games and owns a 3-8 record. The next action is in 10 days when the Lady Commodores host Southern State at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 16.
