Thousands of people now have free access to the Lorain County Community College Fitness Center through partnerships with select insurance companies.
LCCC now partners with SilverSneakers, Renew Active and Prime to offer free, insurance-based fitness plans. All program participants have free access to the LCCC Fitness Center, field house, gym and track.
These program expansions make access to fitness equipment and programs a convenient and affordable option for people of all ages who are enrolled in the participating program. These efforts continue the college’s focus on health and wellness for all in the community, said LCCC President Marcia Ballinger, Ph.D. “We welcome the opportunity to have new members on campus and hope additional people will be able to explore all that LCCC has to offer,” she said.
“Silver Sneakers, Renew Active and Prime are the latest initiatives that we are proud to provide for Lorain County residents. These partnerships give people the tools they need to take control of their health,” Ballinger said. “We are honored that our campus can be a location for everyone in the community to focus on their health and wellness.”
In addition to these new partnerships, LCCC offers other free or low-cost fitness classes, including Kristy’s Classes as well as reduced cost memberships for LCCC alumni and military veterans.
Eligibility for free fitness center memberships may be verified by insurance carrier or by the LCCC Fitness Center staff. To learn more about verification or other low-cost memberships, visit http://www.lorainccc.edu/fitness or call (440) 366-4028.
