Lorain County Community College’s Stocker Arts Center will host a concert featuring Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience as part of the Random Acts Series and part of the Mardi Gras in Lorain County celebration. The concert will be at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 9 in the Hoke Theatre at Stocker Arts Center.
Along with the Lorain County Commissioners and Visit Lorain County, LCCC hosts the New Orleans style concert celebrating the heritage of Louisiana Creole music. Since 1981, two-time Grammy award-winning artist Simien has been shattering the myths about what his indigenous Zydeco roots music is – and is not. Leading his five-piece, highly skilled and well-traveled, Zydeco Experience band, Simien has become one of the most respected and accomplished artists in American roots music today. He and his band mates have performed more than 8500 concerts and toured millions of miles to over 45 countries during their eventful career. Terrance and the band have also been musically featured in films from “The Lucky One” to Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog.” 2019 marks Terrance’s 34th consecutive performance at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the gold standard for showcasing and celebrating Louisiana music alongside more mainstream, popular music.
Guests can sample authentic Creole fare before the concert for $15 per person (concert ticket included). The culinary showcase begins at 5:30 p.m. in Spitzer Conference Center’s Reaser Grand Room.
