LCCC Presents Film and Talk on “Power & Control: Domestic Violence in America”

Lorain County Community College will present “Power & Control: Domestic Violence in America” from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, November 2 at Spitzer Conferencing Center in room 114. The 45-minute video will be followed by a discussion led by Meg McIntyre, manager of community education at Genesis House.

The film features a mother of three at the center of this compelling exploration of gender violence. As Kim and her daughters flee to a domestic violence shelter, the audience follows her harrowing struggles in her quest to find work, housing and peace of mind.

Guests will also learn what resources are available on campus and at Genesis House Domestic Violence Center of Lorain County to assist survivors of domestic and interpersonal violence including:
· Women’s Link (advocacy, counseling, crisis intervention, legal services, housing services and short-term emergency loans)
· Commodore Cupboard (food assistance)
· Counseling
· Genesis House (temporary safety, shelter, food, aid, advocacy and support)
