Lorain County Community College is offering informational sessions for prospective students interested in a career in the operating room through LCCC’s Surgical Technology and Sterile Services programs. Local employers are looking to hire in this in-demand field, and job opportunities are expected to increase by as much as 20 percent over the next five years.

LCCC’s surgical and sterile services program delivers certificate and associate degree options. These career fields work very closely together in managing and maintaining sterile and safe practices in our health care facilities.

Careers in sterile processing focus on the logistics of sterile instruments and supplies to ensure that infectious disease cannot spread. Surgical Technology offers career opportunities with more patient interaction, managing and maintaining sterile instruments and supplies and assisting surgeons during a variety of surgical procedures.
