Lorain County Community College offers nearly 170 industry-recognized credentials that prepare students for good paying, in-demand jobs in Northeast Ohio. When paired with LCCC’s low tuition rate, earning these credentials can be even more valuable for students, said LCCC President Marcia J. Ballinger, Ph.D.
“LCCC works with local employers to create programs and build in credentials that meet current industry needs,” Ballinger said. “Earning industry-recognized certifications helps students earn higher salaries and can make graduates more desirable to employers.”
Jacob Luznar is hoping his industry certifications will help him stand out in the crowd when he’s ready to apply for jobs. Luznar, 18 from Elyria, is majoring in Network Communications Technologies. After just one year in his associate degree program, he has completed the Business IT Fundamentals certificate and is currently working on his CompTIA A+ certificate.
“It’s my goal to earn my associate degree and as many certifications as possible so that after I graduate, I will be able to jump-start my career in networking,” Luznar said.
Many industry certifications are embedded in LCCC associate degree and short-term programs, including many that can be completed in 16 weeks or less with LCCC’s Fast Track programs. Some certifications require an additional exam by a third-party organization.
Some industry certifications that individuals can train for at LCCC include those in:
• Computers and IT
• Culinary and Hospitality
• Engineering and Manufacturing
• Health and Wellness
• Social Sciences/Human Services and Public Safety
