The Department of Education often requires additional documentation from some students. All requests will be shown on your “To Do” list. It is very important that you continue to check your MyCampus and LCCC email accounts often – throughout the year – for information and instructions.
Student Aid Programs at LCCC
Financial aid is available to students in many different forms: grants, loans, work study, awards, and scholarships. Most students interested in financial aid at LCCC must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) .
Grants are student aid that does not have to be repaid. It can come from a variety of sources and is often, although not always, based on the applicant’s financial need. Some grants include:
- Federal Pell Grant
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
- Ohio College Opportunity Grant
- Ohio War Orphans
- Ohio National Guard

Student loans are borrowed money that must be repaid. Loans can come from sources like the Federal Government or private lenders. Eligibility can be based on many factors including financial need and credit worthiness. Some student loan options include:
- Federal Direct Subsidized Stafford Loan
- Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loan
- Federal Direct PLUS Loan Program
- Private Loans

The Federal Work Study Program provides the opportunity for students to earn money through federally sponsored part-time employment. Employment sites are available at LCCC and off campus. Eligibility for Federal Work Study is need-based according to federal definition.
LCCC awards and/or administers a variety of institutional and privately funded scholarships. The LCCC-funded scholarships – the Trustee and the Presidential – are awarded to Lorain County current-year high school graduates. In addition, LCCC offers a variety of scholarships to students attending LCCC and the University Partnership.
