Summer Grants and Scholarships

This summer, LCCC is again offering exciting opportunities in sessions as short as five weeks.

Whether you want to get ahead or catch up, summer is a great time to take those lab courses, electives, or courses you just haven’t had the time to take.

Summer Grant Opportunities

 

Remaining Pell funds 

If you have a remaining balance on your 2016-17 Pell Grant, you can use those funds for Summer 2017.

To be eligible:

  • Must be maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) at the end of spring term, 2017
  • Cannot be in default or owe an over-payment on Federal funds
  • Have not reached your Lifetime Eligibility units for Pell
  • Enroll for classes before Monday, June 5, 2017 to have Pell grant eligibility for those classes

 

Scholarships available Summer 2017

 

LCCC Non-Traditional Incentive Award:   

The Incentive Award for Non-Traditional Students (IANS) is a privately funded award intended to help non-traditional students achieve a college education and training. The amount of the award varies per student and it can be used to help pay for tuition, fee, books, and other educational expenses including child care and transportation. The IANS is a need-based award. If the applicant does not have any unmet need as defined by the Federal Government, the applicant must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average to be considered. Due no later than June 5, 2017.

To be eligible:

  • Must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2017-2018
  • Enroll in a minimum of 2 credit hours for Summer Semester by May 22, 2017 in a program leading to a degree or certificate.
  • Be a new LCCC student or have at least a 2.5 GPA
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be considered an Independent Student, see application for further details.

Summer Scholarship Application

 

LCCC Completion Award:   

New federal regulations prohibit students from receiving more than 600 Lifetime Eligibility Units (LEUs) of Pell Grant. Students are now finding out that they have no federal grant funding to finish their education without appropriate time for alternative planning. The LCCC Completion Award is intended to allow the students in this situation to complete their program of study at LCCC. Due no later than June 5, 2017.

To be eligible:

  • Eligible for Pell, but no remaining LEUs
  • Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Summer Semester by May 22, 2017
  • Program completion can be achieved within a maximum of two terms
  • Cumulative GPA aligned with graduation requirements
  • Must meet with Enrollment Service (Academic counselor or Advisor to determine schedule)

Summer Scholarship Application

 

LCCC Summer Acceleration Award:

Studies show that students who continuously attend classes, rather than stopping out during summer term, have a greater rate of successfully completing their academic goals. In support of that, LCCC has created the Summer Acceleration Scholarship for selected students who meet the scholarship criteria. Due no later than May 22, 2017.

To be eligible:

  • Must complete a Free Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2017-2018
  • Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Summer Semester by May 22, 2017
  • Have a minimum 2.5 GPA at the time of awarding
  • Be maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress
  • Not be Pell eligible for summer term

Summer Scholarship Application

 

LCCC Summer Achievement Award:

LCCC has created the Summer Achievement Award to assist with Summer 2017 tuition and fees for selected students who successfully enrolled and completed full time course work for the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 terms. Up to six hours of funds for Summer 2017 tuition and fees will be awarded to students that meet the scholarship criteria. Due no later than June 5, 2017.

To be eligible:

  • Enroll for Summer 2017
  • Pursuing completion of an LCCC certificate or associates degree
  • Have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of the awarding
  • Successfully registered and completed between 13-15 credit hours for both fall 2016 term and spring 2016 term.

LCCC Summer Sampler for Scholarship Students:

This award will cover the cost of up to 3 credit hours of coursework for summer 2017, based on your scholarship eligibility.

To be eligible:

  • Be a new or current Trustee, Presidential and Diversity Incentive Award Scholars
  • Presidential & Trustee: 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Diversity Incentive Award: 2.0 cumulative GPA

Scholarship recipients enroll for summer classes and complete the online form to notify the Financial Services Center. The Summer Sampler will then be applied to your account.

LCCC Summer Sampler for Scholarship Students Registration

 

LCCC Rising Scholars Summer Bridge Program:

The Rising Scholars Summer Bridge program can improve your success moving from high school to the first year of college. This free coursework will accelerate your progress towards graduation and ultimately help you complete your program in two years. 

The program provides leadership and service opportunities to encourage engagement and a sense of community. Research shows that students who feel connected to the college are more likely to continue and graduate.

To be eligible:

  • Must be a Diversity Incentive Award (DIA), Trustee or Presidential scholarship recipient
  • Must be registered to attend LCCC in Fall 2017
  • Must take college placement exam, ACT, or SAT
  • Must participate in a Power Hour (once a week)

Program Requirements:

  • Mandatory attendance and participation in orientation 
  • Must take at least 4 credit hours of course work
  • Register for Power Hours on Tuesday or Wednesdays (9:00-9:50AM)
