Ballet Legato presents Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker”
Ballet Legato is proud to announce its first annual production of Tchaikovsky’s timeless holiday classic, “The Nutcracker,” choreographed by former Ohio Dance Theatre principal, Jennifer Kraynik-Muselin.
“The Nutcracker” ballet is based on the story written by E.T.A. Hoffman, which was adapted into a magical ballet accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s most famous score! Brave soldiers, a fierce Mouse King, glistening snowflakes, and a handsome Prince are just some of the characters that welcome the beautiful Clara to the Land of the Sweets. Every person remembers their first “Nutcracker” performance and the beauty and wonderment of the Sugar Plum Fairy and her brave Cavalier. Fun for every age!
Dancing alongside Ballet Legato company members are community dancers from in and outside of the Cleveland area and Northeast Ohio students.
Ballet Legato, established in the fall of 2019, is excited to bring their brand of contemporary ballet to the Northeast Ohio communities!
We hope to offer a fresh new view of dance to our community through the direction of our Executive Artistic Director. Dance brings people together and bridges generations. We want our performances and appearances to contribute to this togetherness – we see them as a way to give back to society and an expression of the individuality we each bring to the world.
We are all differently unique and each one of us has certain weak and strong points. We promise to offer an inclusive and equitable culture to develop the special characteristics of each dancer.
Ballet Legato is proud to introduce artistic and innovative repertoire from classical to contemporary works while connecting with our community and familiarizing them with the depth and relevance of dance as an art form; presenting accessible performances of the highest quality while enriching the lives of the artists and audiences with a range of significant, ever-evolving dance.
The organization will foster and create professional opportunities for both local and non-local artists. Local ballet students of an advanced, pre-professional level will be offered educational and performance opportunities through our apprenticeship program which will allow them to collaborate and learn directly from experienced professionals, resulting in the cultural advancement of the Northeast Ohio community.
Ballet Legato intends to interact with the youth of our community by creating outreach programs, including community youth classes in conjunction with particular performances, educational presentations and demonstrations and workshop classes for public and private school students.
