With diverse musical styles, this concert is all about great songs! Jonathan wrote his first song in 1996 and since then has won 1st place in The Unisong International Song Contest, twice placed in the top five of the John Lennon Song contest, won 1st Place in the USA Songwriting Competition in Folk as well as the Overall Grand Prize out of 33,000 entries, and was awarded First Place in the Gospel category of the ISC songwriting contest. Based in Nashville he splits his time between touring, writing, recording and producing. He also plays keyboard and steel guitar for Toad the Wet Sprocket. Seattle native Ryan Shea Smith is a veteran songwriter and recipient of multiple songwriting awards. His musical skill was honed at the University of Washington and through a steady touring schedule. He is known for his singing voice and his command of keyboard and guitar. Ryan’s sophomore release “Stay Awhile” is a John Lennon song contest winner. Also performing, singing their new songs for you will be area students who have been writing new music and lyrics with Jonathan and Ryan.

Jonathan and Ryan will again be doing songwriting workshops Monday, May 14 through Thursday, May 17. The songs written in those workshops will be performed by the songwriters as part of the Student Matinee and evening concerts on Friday, May 18, 2018.
