Student Senate Candidate Election Materials

Student Senate Election starts March, 2019. Students may come to the front desk to get a Student Senate Election Packet.

The dates and contents in the Student Senate Election Packet are subject to change. Changes will be posted at the Office of Student Life (College Center – Room 206) and on the LCCC website under Student Senate Elections. All applicants will also be contacted with changes. 

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact any of the current Student Senators by their emails listed on the webpage or stop by their office in College Center 203, or contact the Student Life Staff at (440) 366-4036 or slevents@lorainccc.edu

  1. Students should read over the Student Senate Election Packet (Important Information & Dates) in its entirety and if you are still interested in running for a Senate Position, you must submit a Letter of Intent
       
  2. Students must go online and fill out Letter of Intent (PDF fillable form) save it and email it to rfairley@lorainccc.edu or print a copy, fill it out, and bring it to the Office of Student Life (CC206)
       
  3. Once the Letter of Intent has been submitted. The Manager of Student Life will check to see if the individual meets all the required qualifications to run in the Student Senate Elections
    • If you do meet the qualification, the individual will receive an email informing them their letter of intent has been approved and to download the Nomination Petition. (see number 4)
    • If you don’t meet the qualification, the individual will receive an email informing them of their unmet required qualifications and future opportunities.
          
  4. If approved fill out the first page of the Nomination Petition and top of each page with Candidate Name and Candidate Position. Print and start getting the 100 signatures needed to be place on the ballot. Once all 100 signatures have been collected bring to Office of Student Life (CC206).
          
  5. After the Nomination Petition and the Letter of Reference (from a LCCC faculty or staff member) is submitted. It will be review by the Manager of Student Life the individual will receive an email informing them their candidacy has been accepted and approved and to download, read in their entirety and complete the following:
    • Election Campaign Packet (read and complete the information for the website. Student Life will schedule a time to take a picture if needed)
    • Election Codes (read)
    • Student Government Constitution (read)
    • Student Government Bylaws (read)
          
  6. The individual can begin to plan their election campaigning strategies. Please use the following forms to request services from Student Life:
    • Student Senate Election Event Request
    • Student Senate Election Publicity Request
          
  7. Attend scheduled orientations
        
  8. Attend scheduled Meet and Greet Session
         
  9. Run Campaign
       
  10. Attend scheduled induction and student senate election training (if elected )

If unable to print any of these documents, you can come to Office of Student Life and request a hard copy of the forms

  1. You can only use Mozilla Firefox
  2. Click on the Form in the Blue link and download the PDF fillable document
  3. Save the form to your computer or flash drive by clicking “Save As” not “save.” Save it to your “documents” or “desktop”
  4. Print and read over the Student Senate Election Packet
  5. Fill out Letter of Intent form click “Save As
  6. After you receive Letter of Intent approval email. Pre-fill out the first page of the Nomination Petition and top of each page with Candidate Name and Candidate Position click “Save As
  7. Print Nomination Petition and start getting the 100 signatures needed to be place on the Student Senate ballot. Once all 100 signatures have been collected submit to Office of Student Life (CC206) or via email to rfairley@lorainccc.edu
