Pregnant Students

If you are pregnant or parenting as an LCCC student, you are certainly not alone. Over one-third of our students are caring for dependents while taking classes, and we have supports in place to help you and your family as you continue your studies while balancing this important role.

If you are pregnant while attending LCCC, you can access accommodations designed to help you continue in your courses. Upon disclosing your pregnancy to us, our team will work with you to coordinate accommodations and share more information with you about your rights as a pregnant student.

While pregnancy is a personal and private matter, students are strongly encouraged to share this information with LCCC so we can be of assistance during your enrollment with us. The link below can be used to reach out to our Title IX Coordinator and Accessibility Services, which are the two areas that will work together to help you access accommodations and resources for pregnant students.

Your submission on this form is kept to minimal recipients for privacy purposes, and you can expect to hear from LCCC’s Title IX Coordinator within two business days of submitting this information.

Thank you for inquiring about how LCCC can support you in the course of your pregnancy. If you are requesting accommodations or more information about support during your pregnancy, LCCC’s Accessibility Services department will contact you shortly after you submit this request to schedule an appointment to meet with a Learning Specialist, and together, determine the accommodations that will best support your success. This appointment can be conducted in-person, virtually, or through a phone call. Whichever works best for you.

Universal accommodations such as permission to have food in class, frequent bathroom breaks or permission to move about the classroom are available to all pregnant students. Additional accommodations may be available based upon medical documentation. We look forward to working with you throughout your pregnancy.  Accessibility Services is located in the College Center building room 234. Phone: 440-366-4058  Email: accessibility@lorainccc.edu

Parenting Students

Our LCCC student-parents amaze us with their abilities to balance family, school, and other responsibilities. While you are not required to share your status as a parent with faculty and staff with whom you interact, we encourage you to do so. Understanding your unique situation can help when things don’t go quite as planned. Additionally, you may find that many of the faculty and staff you encounter are parents as well!

The resources below may be helpful to you as a student with children. From lactation rooms on campus, to childcare services and resources for food, emergency aid, and access to community support programs, our services are designed with you and your family’s needs in mind.

Many of our on-campus events are family friendly, and if you aren’t sure, just ask.
