Ready for Enrollment, Employment, & Enlistment

The Career & College Advantage program was created in partnership with Lorain County Community College and Lorain County JVS. Career & College Advantage creates opportunities for collegiate success for students pursuing career technical education. While in high school, students have the opportunity to earn up to a year’s worth of college credits, which can apply directly into an associates degree.  College credit can be earned in both applied technical and general education courses.

College Credit Opportunities

Tech Prep students who utilize these options are  better prepared for college, reduce out of pocket tuition expenses, and shorten the amount of time it takes to earn their college degree. With so many different opportunities to earn college credit, it can be difficult to keep straight.  Learn more about how to apply your earned college credit to LCCC.

Students can choose to take College Credit Plus courses at either the Lorain County JVS College Campus, your high school, in-person at LCCC’s main campus and outreach centers, or online. Be sure to let your CCP Adviser know you’re a College Tech Prep student and use your Career Technical Course or Program of Study document when scheduling your classes.

Claim Your Earned College Credits

Before you graduate high school, you should discuss what college credits you’ve earned with your instructor. There are steps you’ll need to follow in order to have your credit posted onto your LCCC transcript. Please refer to the Resources for Parents & Students page for a step-by-step explanation of how to claim your credits. Remember, these credits expire within two years of high school graduation, so don’t delay!
